Your first application

Getting Started Oct 8, 2026

Create from prompt

The most direct way to build an application is to describe it in plain language, the same way you'd ask a colleague to put a report together. You don't need to specify data sources, chart types, or layout up front - Statement infers a reasonable starting point from the request and your connected data. Example prompt: “Create a Subscription Growth dashboard using my Stripe data. Show monthly recurring revenue, revenue growth over time, and revenue by subscription plan.” The app brings those views together: summary cards for key figures, a line chart showing the revenue trend, and a bar chart comparing plans. This helps you see how recurring revenue is changing and which plans contribute the most. You can refine it through conversation-for example, “Move the plan comparison above the trend chart” or “Add a short summary.” The app is saved so you can return to it and refresh its figures as updated data becomes available.

Your first 5 minutes

  1. Sign up and create your workspace - Set up your Statement account and name your workspace (your business or client's name).
  2. Connect your accounting tool - Link QuickBooks, Xero, or your accounting system of choice. Statement pulls in your chart of accounts and transaction history automatically.
  3. Ask your first question - Try something like "What's our cash balance today?" or "How much revenue did we make last month?" - Statement answers using the data it just connected.
  4. See it in context - Notice that Statement already understands your accounts and entities, so you don't need to explain your business before asking.
  5. Explore what's next - Head to Building your first app to turn a question you ask often into a saved dashboard or automation.

Draft mode

A newly created application is saved with sharing set to Private by default. You can review it and refine its content, calculations, or layout through chat before making it accessible through a share link. There is no separate draft stage or publish step for a generated app. Your edits update the saved application directly, so changes to an already shared app are not held back in a private draft. Sharing and scheduling are separate choices. You can keep an app private while scheduling refreshes, or enable sharing when you’re ready for others to view it. Creating the app does not automatically share it or schedule updates.

Save and share
